The reason we name this class with "Ceng Ceng" is because of the common saying "The last but not least". This particular instrument is often unnoticed by audience, yet it manifests the Balinese orchestra excitement, just like the students' unpolished talents that need to be tapped. "Ceng Ceng" itself is small bronze cymbals which ornaments the Balinese orchestra. The seated player holds a cymbal in each hand and clashes them against the fastened cymbals. The effect is loud, colorful and exciting. "Ceng Ceng" cymbals are commonly fastened to the top of a wooden turtle which is made of jackfruit wood. Balinese woodcarvers decorate the jackfruit stands with Balinese legends, like the mythical turtle who balances the world on his back.
